We offer free health care for people without health insurance or means to see their health provider. Donations help! We are not-for-profit. We started after Katrina by volunteers to be a permanent quality health & wellness clinic. Help us become community-controlled and employ local residents.

  • Tue: 8:30 am - 12 noon,
  • Wed: 8:30 am -3 pm;
  • Thursday Closed (LHOP only)

Saturday hours have resumed. Please call or look on the clinic door on Friday to find out if the clinic is open.

Patient Services

  • Walk-In health care: You can be seen by a health provider for many health concerns. If you need laboratory work or advanced diagnostic tests, you may have to go elsewhere.
  • Prescriptions: Our Nurse Practitioners or Doctors can write you a prescription. Bring your current medications.
  • Prescription Assistance: If you have no drug insurance, we can help you get signed up with a program to get your medications at low cost or free.
  • Counseling: The clinic offers short term counseling, with referrals to local counseling services.
  • Herbal Medicine: Herbalists work primarily with whole plant medicines, such as medicinal teas and tinctures, in order to treat the underlying causes of illness and thus the whole person.
  • Massage & Body Work: Stressed, tense, sore? Massage and body work is a wonderful way to feel better.
  • Servicios en español: Ofrecemos servicos de salud y consejos medicos en español.
  • Health Education: Find out more about living well, managing an illness like high blood pressure or diabetes, using your medications properly, etc..
  • HIV Testing: You can get a quick HIV test (Wednesdays 10-3 usually) across the street at 333 Socrates St..
  • Physical Therapy: Physical therapy is very useful for injuries or illnesses that affect your movement, strength and coordination.
  • Vaccinations: We offer Tetanus, Hepatitis and Flu vaccinations.

    How you can help your clinic:

  • Volunteer: Most tasks and jobs are done by volunteers. Let us know you can help out. We need people to help with the front desk, file, nurse, doctor, sort materials, cook, clean, carpentry, plumbing, painting, secretary, computer data entry, child care, manage projetcs, etc.. Let us know you can help out.
  • Make a donation: See the sidebar on the right hand side of this page to make a donation to the clinic. Every penny helps!
  • Let your political, community and religious representatives know you support the Common Ground Health Clinic and they should too! People who have resources need to be reminded to assist your clinic.
